Retarded start-ups, or how to FAIL without really trying
I’ve been trying to promote my admittedly rather lame new blog Every Day in BA! (Yup, it rhymes and it’s alliterative, and yes, I’ve gone back to Google/Blogger, mostly because Wordpress, which is, oh, about a billion times better, does not allow advertising.)
Blogging Fusion is a newish blog directory. Alexa told me that its traffic is going up, and it has the unique but utterly obvious feature of allowing you to include your AdSense code in your listings. So, I applied. I even paid for express approval.
5 days later I got a rejection e-mail, citing contradictory and grammatically suspicious reasons for it. Also, funny Palin-esque misspellings. (Actually, I have no evidence that Moose Lady ever misspelled anything; it just makes me laugh thinking that she did.)
Here’s da e-mail:
We are unable to approve your site ‘ http://www.everydayinba.com ,’ at this time.
Reasons:
1) You have not added the reciprocal linkback to http://www.bloggingfusion.com/ [Untrue]
2) The link to http://www.bloggingfusion.com/ is in an appropriate spot and must reside in the *sidebar* or *footer*. The link must not reside in a post! [It is in the sidebar; unless you don't really know what a sidebar is. Pendejo. Also, we need to go over the appropriate uses of the *. But, wait. In 1) you stated I didn't have a reciprocal link...]
3. The blog ‘Every Day in Buenos Aires!’ had inappropriate content / adult or pornagraphic [sic.] material. [Huh?]4. The http://www.everydayinba.com submitted is not the reciprocal blog, and is not permitted. Links must reside from the blog being submitted and not an alternate URL. [Again, huh?]
5. Every Day in Buenos Aires! is brand new and doesn’t have enough content to make it truly valuable at this time, please resubmit once your blog has content and act lease 3 months worth of content. [Well, yeah, ok, gimme some time, all right?]6. The blog Every Day in Buenos Aires!, doesn’t have an english version.
Remedy: Add Google Translater / Babblefish [What? What are you smoking?]7. You did not include a blog discription for your blog listing! [...]
8. The blog submitted redirects, to another page or site. This is not permitted, or maybe you are unaware do to a script or banner added.
Fix any ommision errors and resubmit your blog once corrected.
If any of the above possibilities is the case your blog was not accepted, please resubmit after you have made the corrections to your blog. [I don't understand this bit at all.]
Please review the Blogging Fusion Blog Directory Terms. [No, thank you. I'll cede the privilege of that torture to your esteemed self.]
Once you have corrected these omissions, you are free to resubmit your blog for inclusion in the Blogging Fusion Blog Directory.
Best Regards,
Blogging Fusion support team
Sigh.
My Chicago friends and I used to play this game called “These People Have Jobs,” a bitter exercise intended to comfort ourselves after we realized that only complete retards actually had real jobs. Many of them well-paid. Being an idiot seemed to be a requirement, in fact.
Case in point: Mr Shawn DesRochers, the composer of this e-mail, has a job; and I don’t. Even though he apparently can’t read, or follow links, or spell, or understand fundamental rhetorical contradictions, or indeed, be able distinguish between written English and written Klingon.
So, now I have a new game. It’s called, “These people have start-ups,” which is related to another game called, “All the Wrong People Have Money.”
Don’t I know it. By now.
