Sorry I’m so late with this. Normally, I post the night before and schedule it. But last night, I watched the Superbowl with my flatmate Juan Carlos who, although he’s from Mexico, loves American football. The game started at 8:25 local time. We finished drinking around 1. After that, I was too drunk to do anything except sleep. Then I got up late, and it takes me frakin’ forever to get motivated when I’m off-schedule. So. Here we are at 19:20 Argentina-time.

Last night, it took a good hour for us to find a bar with a television playing the game. The two expat bars in our area were packed out. One of them, El Alamo, was charging AR $6o, or $15 USD, just to get in the door. Even if we did, it was standing room only. We just shook our heads, laughed and immediately turned around when told this. On the way out, I commented, maybe a little too loudly, “Jesus frakin’ Christ! I’ve gotten a blow job for 50 pesos…!”

And it’s true, I did, in one of the porn theaters in Microcentro. I’ll save that story for another time.

JC and I eventually found a tourist bar just off Calle Florida that was playing the game. I forgot its exact name but its cheeseball theme was pirates: Lots of carved-wood, sword-swinging scalawags and evil-looking octopi, plus Skull & Crossbones flags everywhere.

We settled down outdoors with our frosty Brahma beers and watched the Colts get over-matched by a very efficient N’Orleans machine. I cheered for my old hometown’s team but didn’t really mind that the Saints won, because of cool dude Scott Fujita and because Reggie Bush is frakin’ hot.
