This post is over-written, a bit twee, too long by half and still quite a bit confined by its young-Anglo, self-congratulatory perspective.
Still, she makes a real and sincere point and with a funny metaphor: You don’t have to live outside the U.S. for very long to realize how bizarre American culture looks to those on the outside, or to those who have moved on or away.
Live even a short time outside the U.S. Reality Distortion Field and you’ll know what I mean. That is, if you still have a soul.
